But first…
Normally, we try to use this space to ramble on about something lighthearted. But following yesterday’s events in Minneapolis, that didn’t feel right today.
In case you missed it, an ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis. Video footage of the shooting went viral quickly, along with various takes on both the woman’s and the officer’s actions.
The city’s mayor demanded ICE agents to “get the f*ck out of Minneapolis.” Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem reiterated to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz that immigration laws must be enforced.
The big question right now centres on whether the officer’s actions were self-defence or straight-up murder. It’s something we’ll cover in the future, once more details come out and we can do a proper breakdown of both sides.
But for now, my heart goes out to the little boy who lost his mom over something that was 100 per cent preventable.
Okay, let’s dive into this Greenland situation.

A global wake-up call
Donald Trump is shaping a new world order, using Greenland as a way to project power in the Arctic against China and Russia. Ottawa should be especially worried, since a U.S. takeover would endanger Canada’s Arctic position, leaving us hemmed in on three sides by a former ally. Eek.
Everyone needs to calm down
Trump’s threats over Greenland are alarming, but an invasion is unlikely. It would completely shatter NATO, U.S. credibility, and the alliances the U.S. depends on. The likeliest outcome here is lots of pressure and loud, destabilizing brinkmanship (short of war) to extract incremental gains.
